How We Work

The California PAL Youth Apprenticeship Readiness Accelerator pre-apprenticeship program in collaboration with LiUNA utilizes the Multi-Craft Core Curriculum of the NABTU – North America’s Building Trades Unions – to help hands-on problem-solvers enter a new career path through accelerated training and introductions to local building trades registered apprenticeship opportunities.

Let’s Build Something Together

Introduction to local Earn & Learn opportunity

Upon completion of pre-apprenticeship you can earn a direct pathway to well-paid construction careers in the building trades through modern apprenticeship!

Better Pay with Benefits!

By completing the YARA program, graduates will have an opportunity to apply for the paid LiUNA 4-year apprenticeship program, once they turn 18, which will allow them a living wage, full benefits, and pension. Upon completetion of the 4-year program they will be assigned within the laborers workforce.

Hands-On Training

Youth will have the opportunity to complete a building project as a part of the YARA cirriculum. This porject will allow them to learn how to pour and lay concrete, how to demolish concrete, basic use of hand tools, basic use of some power tools, and how to build standing structures.

Industry Certifications

.Youth will receive several industry recognized certifications including, but not limited to, CRP/First Aid, Traffic Control, Confined Space, Hazardous Waste, Fundamentals of Construction, and OSHA 10. Additional certifications made possible upon availability include, Drone 107 Pilot, Offshore Wind, and Green Resources
